SWEDISH TRADITIONS

Before Sweden became the modern technological country that it is today, it was economically poor, though rich in culture and popular tradition. In the world’s oldest open-air museum, founded at the end of the 19^th century by a Swedish ethnologist, you will find out how Swedes once lived and went about their everyday lives and activities. You will discover farmsteads from southern Sweden, middle-class houses, shops, places of worship, workshops and other living quarters for the community, but also local crafts and traditions, and the fauna and flora from northern Europe. We understand that it is important for children to be able to run around and experience things first hand. We have therefore designed a little route so they can travel through life and space by, for instance, meeting a lady with her spinning machine, a potter and his ceramics, not forgetting the Nordic animals still living today in Scandinavia.
